Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration of African and African American culture, where families light a candle on the kinara (candle holder) each night and may enjoy food, song, dance, and other activities. The celebration outfit includes a colorfull printed broadcloth top with surplice neckline, a colorful printed broadcloth maxi skirt and matching headband, a pair of black strappy sandals, a plastic kinara and set of seven candles, a unity cup, a woven mkeka mat and various other small accessories.
